MV Agusta’s racing division ‘Reparto Corse’ has developed a limited edition model based on the F3 800. The limited edition model is christened ‘F3XX’ and has been lightened by a whopping 28 kg as compared to the standard motorcycle. The engine output has also been spiked by nearly 12 BHP which is significant in conjunction with the lightened motorcycle.
The Reparto Corse, which is the racing division of the Italian premium motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta was commissioned by the brand to develop a track focused motorcycle by shedding every ounce of weight possible and to obtain every bit of juice that the motor can produce.
For comparison, the standard MV Agusta F3 800 is powered by a 799cc, three-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor which produces 146 BHP of power and 88 Nm of torque coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The standard F3 800 weighs in at 173 kg (dry) and the F3XX weighs 145 kg which is 28 kg less. Reparto Corse achieved this by using carbon fibre materials for numerous components. The power on the engine has also been upped from 146 BHP to 157.8 BHP.
The F3XX is powered by the engine based on the F3 800 and has the following specifications:-
- 798cc, inline-three cylinder, 4-stroke with a liquid-cooling system, 12-titanium valves with radial springs and a dual camshaft system (DOHC) which produces a maximum output of 157.7 BHP and is mated to a 6-speed transmission with a multi-plate limited slip clutch. The fuel delivery system consists of two injectors per cylinder with a Mikuni throttle body system managed by a MecTronik engine control unit. The exhaust is a custom, full system, SC-Project SC1-R three-into-one unit made with carbon fibre.
- The electronics package includes MecTronik EBMKELD2 with internal IMU (inertia measuring unit), advanced traction control, launch control and wheelie control. The bike also features integrated data logging and also has engine oil pressure sensors, front brake pressure sensors, front fork potentiometer, rear monoshock potentiometer, 1000 N loadcell for quick shifter and a racing handlebar switch.
- The bike rides on Marzocchi 43mm upside-down front fork with Ohlins NIX suspension cartridge and Ohlins TTX-36 rear monoshock. The bike is also equipped with an Ohlins steering damper. The braking power comes for twin 320mm hydraulically operated disc with Brembo T-Drive on the front and 220mm rear disc.
The MV Agusta F3XX is expected to be sold at a premium price, given the equipment it offers. Though information about the price is not available at the moment, the price will not even be near the standard F3 800 which is priced at INR 16.31 lakh ex-showroom, Mumbai. The bike will only be available in limited numbers and is likely to be configured only for race track use.
