Audi is planning to launch the A3 Cabriolet in India sooner than expected at a price of ~ Rs. 45 – 50 lakh.
When Audi launched the A3 in India, it undercut the pricing of hatchback offerings from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. This made the A3 an instant hit and a favourite entry level luxury sedan in India. Now, the company wants to launch the drop-top Cabriolet, 4-seater convertible version of the A3 very soon. The roof opens / closes within 18 seconds when driving under speeds of 50 kmph.
Powering the A3 Cabriolet will be a 1.8L, turbocharged, 4-cylinder petrol motor producing 180 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. A 2.0L 35TDI diesel model could also be offered.
On the inside, the Cabriolet will sport the same interior trim with a pop-up infotainment screen etc.
Changes on the A3 Cabriolet:
- Black soft-top roof
- 2-door body style
- Wind deflector
- Neck warmers for front passengers
- Chrome weather strip around the cabin
- Chrome A-pillar
- New alloy wheels
- Flip movement for the front seats
- New alloy wheels
- Active roll over protection along with other standard safety features
- Boot space to be bare minimum, if at all it is available
The A3 Cabriolet will be brought into India as a CBU.
