Toyota Hyryder gets new features, AWD with automatic gearbox

Toyota has updated its compact SUV, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, with new features and safety add-ons. The latest model has also undergone a drivetrain revision, of which you can read more below.

Toyota Hyryder gets new features, more comfort

Celebrating the success of the 1 lakh sales milestone for the Hyryder moniker, Toyota has introduced new features to it. The new model is now equipped with 6 airbags as standard across the range.

Additionally, the higher variants are now equipped with ventilated front seats along with an 8-way electric seat adjustment for the driver’s seat. Select models also get an electronic parking brake button for added convenience.

The top variants now get ambient light with individual reading lamps for the passengers. It also features new type-C fast charging ports (15W). Moreover, the speedometer console illumination and the other lights in the cabin have been revised for better visibility.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder

The tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is now available in multiple trims as opposed to the earlier top-end trim only. The rear windows are now equipped with sunshades and an AQI monitor has also been added on the higher variants.

The biggest change has happened with the AWD variant, as it is now available with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Earlier, the AWD was sold only with the 5-speed manual gearbox.

With all these changes, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder range now starts from Rs 11.34 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available with a standard warranty of 3 years or 1 lakh kilometers.

The official bookings for the updated model have commenced across India. The deliveries will also start soon in the coming weeks.

Our verdict

The new update on the Hyryder has improved the SUV overall in terms of premiumness and comfort. Moreover, the addition of an automatic AWD variant is the only model in the segment to offer this drivetrain combination currently.
