Bajaj Auto has achieved a significant milestone with its Chetak electric scooter, which became the best-selling electric scooter in India for March 2025. The company recorded its highest-ever monthly sales, delivering 34,863 units, an average of over 1,124 scooters per day. This performance underscores the growing consumer preference for sustainable mobility solutions and Bajaj Auto’s strategic positioning in the electric vehicle (EV) market.

The Chetak’s success in March contributed to a record-breaking fiscal year for Bajaj Auto. The company sold a total of 2,30,761 units in FY2025, marking an impressive 116% growth compared to the 1,06,624 units sold in FY2024. This achievement also saw Bajaj’s market share in the electric two-wheeler segment rise to 20%, nearly doubling from the previous year’s 11%.
Success of the Chetak 35 series
The introduction of the new Chetak 35 Series in December 2024 played a pivotal role in driving sales. The updated model features a 3.5 kWh battery, offering a range of 153 km and a top speed of 73 km/h. Its retro-inspired design, combined with modern features like a touchscreen console and connectivity options such as live tracking and geo-fencing, has resonated well with urban commuters seeking eco-friendly and practical mobility solutions.

Bajaj Chetak’s dominance in March 2025 was further highlighted by its performance against competitors. TVS iQube secured the second spot with 30,453 units sold, followed by Ola Electric with 23,430 units. Ather Energy and Hero MotoCorp rounded out the top five, with sales of 15,446 and 7,977 units, respectively.
The Chetak’s success can be attributed to several factors, including Bajaj’s strong brand reputation, extensive dealer network, and robust after-sales service. The scooter’s build quality, vibrant color options, and competitive pricing have also contributed to its popularity.
