Kush Maini’s Journey to BWT Alpine F1
Maini, 24, joined the Alpine Academy in 2023 and has since made significant strides in his career. Competing in the 2024 Formula 2 season, he secured five podium finishes, including a victory in Budapest. His strong performances in Formula 2 and impressive outings during Alpine’s Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) programme convinced the team to elevate him to the role of reserve driver.
Kush Maini’s role in the team
As a reserve driver, Maini will play a crucial role in Alpine’s car development programme. He will work extensively in the simulator at Alpine’s Enstone base in the UK, assisting with car setup and performance improvements. Additionally, he will gain valuable on-track experience through TPC sessions, helping him adapt to Formula 1 machinery.
Maini will continue to compete in Formula 2 with DAMS for the 2025 season, balancing his dual responsibilities. His focus remains on delivering strong results in Formula 2 while contributing to Alpine’s development efforts. This dual role positions him as a potential contender for a full-time Formula 1 seat in the future.
Expressing his excitement, Maini stated, “Being a reserve driver for the BWT Alpine F1 Team is an incredible opportunity. It has been my dream to represent the Tricolor in Formula 1, and I am deeply grateful for the trust the team has placed in me.” Alpine Academy Director Julian Rouse praised Maini’s rapid development, highlighting his impressive performances in both Formula 2 and TPC sessions.
