Kia Carens facelift – New name, EV powertrain
As confirmed by the officials, Kia will be introducing the new Carens updated model by April and June with different powertrains and EV options. The new model will get a new name suffix after ‘Carens’, as it will be positioned above the standard model.
Kia plans to sell both the current and the facelift model together in the Indian market. It is something similar to what Maruti Suzuki is already doing with its Ertiga and XL6 models.
Speaking of the changes, the Carens facelift will get a new design inspired by the Carnival. The test mules spotted multiple times show that it will have a more SUV-like muscular design. The lights will also be taken from the new Kia models.
The facelift will also get a refreshed cabin design with a new dashboard, new seats, more comfort and convenience features, and an enhanced safety level.
Additionally, the engine options will be shared with the standard Carnival. However, a few online reports hint that the 1.5-litre petrol engine will not make it on the updated model.
Moreover, Kia will also launch the Carens EV that will be introduced after the facelift model launch. The EV Carens will share its powertrain with the Hyundai Creta Electric, offering a maximum range of up to 473 km.
With the addition of the facelift model and EV model, the Carens lineup will expand significantly. This will also expand its price range over Rs 25 lakh; which currently tops out at Rs 19.70 lakh.
