Written by News Team

Porsche India has issued a voluntary recall for its Taycan electric sedan due to a potential defect in the battery module. The recall affects over 176 units manufactured between October 21, 2019, and March 4, 2024. The defect could lead to a short circuit within the battery module, posing a fire risk after thermal throttling.

The Taycan’s Popularity

The Porsche Taycan, priced between INR 1.89 crore and INR 2.53 crore, is a popular choice in the luxury EV market. It competes with models like the Mercedes-Benz EQS and Audi e-tron GT. The recall is part of a global effort, with over 27,500 units affected worldwide.

Porsche has advised owners of the affected models to contact their nearest authorized dealership for a free fix. The company has not yet released an official statement but is expected to address the issue promptly.

This isn’t the first time the Taycan has faced issues. In June 2024, Porsche recalled the Taycan globally due to a potential brake failure. The company fixed the issue without any charges to customers.
