KTM India has introduced its flagship adventure bike, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S, to the Indian market at a price of INR 22.74 lakh. This powerful and versatile motorcycle is designed to cater to both hardcore adventurers and long-distance tourers.
Engine and Performance
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is powered by a 1301cc V-twin liquid-cooled engine that produces 158 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quickshifter and a slipper clutch, ensuring smooth and efficient power delivery. The bike’s performance is further enhanced by multiple ride modes, traction control, and ABS modes, including off-road ABS.
1290 Super Adventure S Design and Features
The bike features a muscular design with a tall stance and bulky bodywork, providing a commanding presence on the road. The split LED headlight with DRLs and a radar sensor at the center adds to its aggressive look. The Super Adventure is equipped with a seven-inch TFT display, smartphone connectivity, and cruise control, making it a technologically advanced option for adventure riders.
Suspension and Brakes
The front suspension consists of WP semi-active USD forks, while the rear suspension features a WP semi-active monoshock. The suspension setup ensures a comfortable ride on various terrains, with 200 mm of travel at both ends. The braking system includes a 320 mm dual disc at the front and a 267 mm disc at the rear, providing reliable stopping power.
1290 Super Adventure S Competitive Edge
Priced at INR 22.74 lakh, the Super Adventure competes with other premium adventure bikes in the Indian market, such as the BMW R 1300 GS and the Ducati Multistrada V4. It does get advanced features like adaptive cruise control that could give it a competitive edge.
Availability
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S will be available at KTM’s flagship dealerships in cities like Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. The bike is currently offered in one color, with a 23-liter fuel tank and a seat height of 869 mm, which can be lowered by 20 mm for added comfort.
