EICMA 2024! KTM reveals 990 RC R supersport motorcycle

Written by News Team

KTM unveiled the 990 RC R, a new supersport motorcycle designed for high performance at EICMA 2024 show. Building on the brand’s reputation for producing race-inspired motorcycles, the 990 RC R offers a powerful engine and advanced features aimed at delivering exceptional handling and speed.

Design and Features

The 990 RC R features an aggressive new design with a smooth fairing, MotoGP-inspired winglets at the front, and a large fuel tank that contributes to its visual mass. The side and tail sections are sharp, with an upswept tail section. The bike is covered in a fetching shade of KTM orange and includes carbon fibre winglets, front fenders, splatter guards, and aluminium levers. It also gets a new, crisp-looking TFT display.

Powertrain

The 990 RC R is powered by a 990cc LC8c parallel-twin cylinder engine that produces 128bhp and 103Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and an Akrapovic exhaust. The bike is designed to sprint from 0 to 40 km/h in 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 95 km/h.

Suspension and Brakes

The 990 RC R features a steel trellis frame suspended by an adjustable WP fork and mono-shock. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with Michelin Powercup tyres. Braking duties are handled by twin discs at the front with radially mounted Brembo calipers and a disc brake at the rear.

Market Strategy

The 990 RC R succeeds the KTM 890 RC 8C and features several changes to make it a faster and more potent track weapon. KTM aims to debut the bike in international markets soon, although there is no word on bringing it to India. The company’s strategy focuses on capturing the high-performance supersport segment with this new model.
