Honda has unveiled two new electric two-wheeler concepts at the EICMA 2024 show in Milan, Italy. The concepts, named EV Fun and EV Urban, are part of Honda’s ambitious plan to introduce 30 electric models globally by 2030. These new models align with Honda’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality for all its motorcycle products by the 2040s and overall carbon neutrality by 2050.
EV Fun Concept
The EV Fun Concept is Honda’s first electric sports bike, designed to offer performance equivalent to a mid-sized internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycle. Equipped with a fixed battery pack, the EV Fun Concept is expected to go on sale in 2025. It boasts a range of around 100 km on a single charge and is compatible with the CCS2 quick charger. The design features geometric proportions and a futuristic headlamp setup, reminiscent of the Ola Electric Roadster.
EV Urban Concept
The EV Urban Concept is a maxi-scooter designed for urban mobility. It features a sophisticated design with the battery pack likely placed above the footboard, allowing the rider to swing their legs over the seat and place their feet on extendable footpegs. This concept emphasizes functionality, connected technologies, and an in-house developed battery pack. Honda aims to make mobility accessible to a wider range of customers with this model.
Market Strategy
Honda’s introduction of these electric two-wheeler concepts at EICMA 2024 highlights its commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup. The company’s strategy focuses on developing a full range of electric motorcycles to meet the diversifying needs of customers and promote the development of a wide variety of electric vehicles. By leveraging its expertise in motorcycles and automobiles, Honda aims to become a leading player in the electric motorcycle market.
