Mahindra has been spotted testing its upcoming XUV.e8 electric SUV, featuring a three-screen infotainment system. The test unit, partially camouflaged, was seen in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, giving a glimpse of the new model’s advanced interior setup.
Design and Features
The XUV.e8 is an electric version of the XUV700, retaining similar design elements but with distinct features for the electric variant. The SUV features a three-screen infotainment system housed in a single casing spanning the dashboard’s width. This setup includes a fully digital color instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system, and an additional display for the front passenger. The screens are expected to be 12.3-inch units with a 1920×720 display, running Mahindra’s Adrenox software.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the XUV.e8 maintains a dual-tone black and beige theme, similar to the XUV700. The cabin includes ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. The new two-spoke, flat-bottomed steering wheel with a glass-like finish adds to the premium feel. The SUV also features Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive (LOCA) bonding and an Oleophobic (anti-smudge) coating for the screens.
Performance and Range
The XUV.e8 is expected to be powered by an 80 kWh battery pack and an electric motor, providing a range of up to 500 kilometers on a single charge. The power outputs could range from 230 hp to upwards of 350 hp, making it a strong contender in the electric SUV segment.
Market and Competition
Mahindra plans to launch the XUV.e8 globally, with the Indian market expected to see the new model by early 2025. The XUV.e8 will compete with upcoming electric SUVs like the Tata Harrier EV and MG ZS EV. With its competitive pricing and advanced features, Mahindra aims to capture a significant share of the electric SUV market.
