Renault reveals new Bigster SUV, based on Duster

Written by News Team

Renault has recently unveiled its latest SUV, the Bigster, which is based on the popular Duster model. This new addition to Renault’s lineup is set to make waves in the compact SUV segment, offering a blend of rugged design, spacious interiors, and advanced powertrain options.

Design and Dimensions

The Bigster is significantly larger than the Duster, measuring 4.57 meters in length, 1.81 meters in width, and 1.71 meters in height. It also boasts a wheelbase of 2.7 meters, which is 43mm longer than the Duster. The exterior design of the Bigster carries over many elements from the Duster but with a more robust and adventurous stance. It features a large, glossy black grille with the Dacia logo, high creased bonnet, and Y-shaped LED headlights and tail-lights. The thick plastic body cladding and chunky bumpers add to its rugged appeal, while the 220mm ground clearance ensures it can handle off-road conditions.

Interior and Features

Inside, the Bigster offers a spacious cabin with a layout similar to the Duster. It comes with a choice of a 7-inch or 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen. The SUV is equipped with a range of modern features, including a powered tailgate, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, and an Arkamys audio system. The Bigster also includes an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite, enhancing safety and convenience for drivers.

Powertrain Options

The Bigster will be available with several powertrain options, including strong hybrid, mild-hybrid petrol, and LPG variants. The hybrid model features a 107 hp, four-cylinder petrol engine paired with two electric motors, delivering a combined output of 155 hp. This setup is designed to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, making the Bigster an eco-friendly choice in the SUV market.

Market Position and Competition

Renault plans to market the Bigster in various international markets, including India, where it will be launched under the Renault brand. The Bigster is expected to compete with other seven-seater SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, and Tata Safari. With its competitive pricing and value-for-money proposition, the Bigster aims to attract a wide range of customers looking for a versatile and capable SUV.

Our Thoughts

The Renault Bigster represents a significant step forward for the brand, combining the ruggedness of the Duster with modern features and advanced powertrains. As it prepares to debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, the Bigster is poised to become a strong contender in the compact SUV segment. In the Indian market, it will present itself as a good option for buyers looking for a big, rugged SUV.
