Royal Enfield has announced a global recall of motorcycles manufactured between November 2022 and March 2023. This recall affects thousands of units worldwide, including popular models such as the Classic 350, Meteor 350, and Himalayan.
Reason for Recall
The recall has been initiated due to a critical issue with the rear and side reflectors on the affected motorcycles. During routine testing, it was discovered that these reflectors do not meet the required performance standards. This deficiency could potentially compromise visibility, especially in low-light conditions, thereby increasing the risk of accidents.
Scope of the Recall
The recall is comprehensive, covering all motorcycles produced during the specified period. Royal Enfield has emphasized that this is a precautionary measure to uphold the highest safety standards, even though there have been no widespread reports of incidents related to this issue.
Regions Affected
The recall will be carried out in phases, starting with regions such as South Korea, the United States, and Canada. It will then expand to other significant markets, including India, Brazil, Latin America, Europe, and the United Kingdom. Owners of the affected motorcycles will be contacted directly by Royal Enfield’s service teams to arrange for the replacement of the faulty reflectors at their nearest service centers.
Replacement Process
The replacement process is designed to be swift and efficient. Each motorcycle will undergo a reflector replacement, which is expected to take approximately 15 minutes. The replacement will be carried out free of charge to the customers.
Company Statement
In a statement, Royal Enfield said, “This recall is a precautionary measure to ensure the highest safety standards are maintained. We are committed to addressing this issue promptly and efficiently to ensure the safety and satisfaction of our customers.” The company also reassured that the faulty reflectors do not affect the overall performance of the motorcycles.
Customer Guidance
Royal Enfield has urged all owners of motorcycles manufactured between November 2022 and March 2023 to check their vehicles and contact their nearest service center for further assistance. The company has also set up a dedicated helpline and a section on their official website to provide detailed information and support regarding the recall process.
