Hyundai Motor Company has reached a significant milestone, producing 100 million vehicles globally. This accomplishment, achieved in 57 years since the company’s inception, underscores Hyundai’s rapid growth and innovation in the automotive industry.
A Journey of Innovation and Growth
Founded in 1967, Hyundai Motor Company has grown from a small South Korean automaker to a global powerhouse. The company’s first mass-produced model, the Pony, rolled off the assembly line in 1975, marking the beginning of Hyundai’s journey towards becoming a major player in the global automotive market.
Over the years, Hyundai has consistently pushed the boundaries of automotive technology and design. The introduction of the Genesis luxury brand and the high-performance N brand are testaments to Hyundai’s commitment to innovation. The company’s focus on electric vehicles (EVs) has also been a significant driver of its recent success, with models like the IONIQ 5 receiving widespread acclaim.
Celebrating the Milestone
To commemorate the production of its 100 millionth vehicle, Hyundai held a special ceremony at its Ulsan Plant in South Korea. The event included the delivery of the 100 millionth and first vehicle, an IONIQ 5, to a customer. This gesture symbolized Hyundai’s gratitude to its loyal customers and its commitment to a future of sustainable mobility.
Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, expressed his appreciation for the support of Hyundai’s customers and the dedication of its employees. “Reaching global cumulative production of 100 million vehicles is a meaningful milestone that was possible thanks to our customers around the world who have chosen and supported Hyundai Motor since the very beginning,” Chang said.
Looking Ahead
Hyundai Motor Company is poised to lead the future of mobility with its continued focus on electrification and sustainable technologies. The Ulsan Plant, which played a pivotal role in Hyundai’s growth, is now a central hub for the company’s EV production. Hyundai is also establishing a dedicated EV facility at the site, further solidifying its commitment to a greener future.
Dong Seock Lee, President and Head of Domestic Productions and Chief Safety Officer at Hyundai Motor Company, highlighted the importance of this milestone. “Each and every employee at Hyundai Motor has contributed to the accumulation of 100 million units through their hard work and dedication. This auspicious occasion is just the first step toward the future era of electrification that Hyundai Motor will lead,” Lee said.
We congratulate Hyundai Motor Company on this significant achievement and wish them the very best for the future.
