Triumph has launched the new Speed T4 in the Indian market which slots below the Speed 400. However, the brand reveals that the Speed T4 is much more apt for riders looking for a motorcycle which could not only be used for daily errands but also for long distance touring. The Triumph Speed T4 comes with a detuned engine and a new final drive ratio as well as suspension that allows for easier riding. Also, thanks to less equipment that is being offered on the Speed T4, the price tag is also lower than the Speed 400 which is now available starting at INR 2.17 lakh ex-showroom. In this video, we bring you all the details of the new Triumph Speed T4 to help you make an informed buying decision.
Technical Specifications
Powering the Triumph Speed T4 is a TR-Series 398cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel injected engine which is the same as the Speed 400. However, the engine comes in a different state of tune and the brand has also increased the engine inertia by 30%. It now produces 31 PS of power and 36 Nm of torque paired to a 6-speed gearbox with slip & assist clutch. To put things into perspective, the Speed 400 produces 40 PS of power and 37.5 Nm of torque. This engine’s state of tune offers a higher torque between 3500-5500 rpm for better low to mid speed ride ability and fewer gear shifts. The brand has also worked on the exhaust note of the Speed T4 and claims it offers a new deeper tone compared to the Speed 400.
What’s Different?
The Triumph Speed T4 comes with right-side up front 43mm suspension on the front and preload adjustable mono shock on the rear. Other changes also include a cable operated throttle as opposed to a ride-by-wire throttle that is available on the Speed 400. The new Speed T4 also comes with a hydroformed handlebar and 110/70 front and 140/70 rear MRF Zapper tyres.
The Triumph Speed T4 is available with 3 colour options – Pearl Metallic White, Cocktail Wine Red and Phantom Black.
