BYD plans to launch electric car rival against Hyundai Creta

Electric vehicle company BYD could be planning to introduce a new SUV to the Indian market soon. The brand could be planning to bring an e-SUV which could cost around the INR 20 lakh mark. This new SUV is likely to rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta EV and the Maruti Suzuki eVX that are planned for launch in the near future. In addition to this, the brand will also compete with Tata and Mahindra which already have their electric vehicle products in the Indian market.This is likely to bring the brand to the main stream electric SUV market.

Future BYD Car could be unveiled at Bharat Mobility Expo

According to reports, the brand is likely to reveal and display its SUV for India at the Bharat Mobility Expo next year. Also, reports reveal that according to the head of Electric passenger Vehicles Business at BYD India, many automotive companies are doing research including BYD. In addition to this, the company plans to introduce SUVs in the price range of INR 20 to INR 50 lakh in the Indian market. The brand’s products are not currently positioned in the INR 15 lakh to INR 25 lakh market and the company could be planning to explore the price range.

BYD Dolphin for India?

Currently, BYD retails the electric MPV ‘e6’, BYD Atto3 SUV and the BYD Seal performance sedan in India. While the brand plans to introduce a new SUV, details of it are currently scarce. However, in the past, reports revealed that the company is likely to bring the BYD Seal U, BYD Tang electric SUV, BYD Sea Lion SUV or the BYD Dolphin EV. At the price point BYD could be planning to launch the Dolphin EV in the Indian market. However, only time will tell what we get to see next from the brand.
