Maruti Suzuki is set to make a significant leap into the electric vehicle (EV) market with the debut of its first pure-electric SUV, the eVX. The highly anticipated unveiling will take place at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, scheduled from January 17 to 22, 2025, in New Delhi.

A New Era for Maruti Suzuki

The eVX represents a pivotal moment for Maruti Suzuki as it marks the company’s foray into the burgeoning EV sector. This move aligns with the global automotive industry’s shift towards sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions. The eVX, which stands for Electric Vehicle X, is expected to set new benchmarks in the Indian EV market with its advanced features and competitive pricing.

Key Features and Specifications

The Maruti Suzuki eVX will be built on a skateboard platform, a design that allows for a flat battery pack and more interior space. The SUV is likely to be offered with two battery options, providing a range of up to 550 kilometers on a single charge. Customers can expect both single and dual-motor configurations, catering to different performance needs.

In terms of features, the eVX is expected to come equipped with:

  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • 360-degree camera
  • Wireless phone charger
  • Head-up display
  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)

These features are designed to enhance the driving experience, making the eVX a strong contender in the EV market.

Production and Export Plans

Maruti Suzuki has ambitious plans for the eVX, with a production target of 1.5 lakh units per annum. The SUV will be manufactured in India, with a significant portion of the production earmarked for export markets, including Europe and Japan. This strategy underscores Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to making India a global hub for electric vehicle manufacturing.

The eVX will enter a competitive market, going head-to-head with models like the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, BYD Atto 3, and Mahindra’s upcoming EV lineup.
