Yamaha has recently introduced updates to its popular small-capacity sportbikes, the R15 and the R15M, for 2025 in Indonesia. While these bikes remain mechanically unchanged compared to the versions we get in India, Yamaha has introduced vibrant new colours for them, which could potentially make their way to our country.
Here are the key details:
New Colour Variants
-
- R15: The R15 now comes in three fresh shades: Tech Black, Icon Blue, and Aggressive Grey.
- R15M: The R15M gets a new colour scheme called Icon Performance.
Mechanical Features
-
- Both the R15 and R15M are feature-rich bikes in their segment. They come equipped with a slipper clutch, traction control, and a quickshifter as standard features.
- Powering both motorcycles is a 155cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 18.4 hp at 10,000rpm and 14.2 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm.
- Braking is managed by a single disc at both ends, complemented by dual-channel ABS.
- The bikes have a seat height of 815mm and a ground clearance of 170mm. Their kerb weight is 141kg, and the fuel tank capacity stands at 11 litres
Pricing and Rivals
The coloirs are currently unavailable in India. However, the R15 starts at Rs 1.83 lakh, while the R15M is priced slightly higher at Rs 1.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). These models compete against strong rivals in the segment, including the KTM RC 200 and Suzuki Gixxer SF 250.
With these exciting new colour options, Yamaha continues to offer sporty and stylish choices for motorcycle enthusiasts. The certainty of them coming to India is not yet clearly. However, since it will be just a new paint job, bringing these colours to India would not be a big challenge for Yamaha. Also, since the festive season is just around the corner, Yamaha India could use the opportunity to bring these new shades in a month or so.
