Citroen has launched the new Basalt Coupe SUV in the Indian market with a starting price of just INR 7.99 lakh ex-showroom. The Citroen Basalt features a Coupe SUV design language and comes with two petrol engines and 3 gearbox options. The French manufacturer further announced that the bookings for the Citroen Basalt are now open from all La Maison Citroen dealerships in India as well as through the brand’s official website at just INR 11,001/-. It is also important to note that this is an exclusive introductory price of INR 7.99 lakh is valid for all bookings with deliveries till 31st October 2024.
Powertrains and Mileage
Powering the Citroen Basalt is a 1.2-litre PureTech 82 naturally-aspirated 3-cylinder engine. The engine produces 82 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque matched to only a 5-speed gearbox and no other automatic option. However, the higher-spec 1.2-litre PureTech 110 turbo-petrol 3-cylinder engine produces 110 PS of power and 190 Nm of torque on the 6-speed manual transmission option & 205 Nm of torque on the 6-speed torque converter automatic option. The company claims that the PureTech 82 NA engine with 5MT gearbox returns a fuel efficiency of 18 KMPL. On the PureTech 110 Turbo-Petrol 6MT the car claims a fuel economy of 19.5 KMPL and on the 6AT it claims 18.7 KMPL.
Design and Space
Design-wise, the Citroen Basalt comes with a coupe SUV shape with a sloping roofline that end well into the tailgate. The brand also revealed that it has worked on the aerodynamic efficiency of the SUV, however, no coefficient of drag number was shared. But, Citroen did reveal that the Coupe SUV comes with 980mm of knee room space available in the 2nd row, so you can be comfortable on the rear seats. The Basalt also gets 470-litres of boot space and the rear seats fold down enhancing the luggage carrying capacity.

On the feature front, the Basalt comes with Flying Carpet Effect suspension, LED Vision projector headlamps, 3D effect taillamps, Tropicalised automatic climate control AC, rear AC vents, Smart Tilt Cushion with three-step thigh support, Advanced Comfort Rear Headrests with a winged design to offer more head support, 26-cm Citroen Connect touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 17.78-cm colour TFT digital drivers display, wireless smartphone charging, and more. The Basalt also comes with 6-airbags and Citroen’s advanced safety suite including ESP, ABS, TPMS, 3-point seatbelt for all and seatbelt reminder for all. The Citroen Basalt also gets rear parking sensors and reversing camera.
