Ducati has introduced a new variant to the DesertX line-up. The new Rally model boasts of improved off-road abilities. Further, the bike gets a distinct visual identity as well to differentiate it from the rest of the line-up.
What’s new in the Ducati DesertX Rally?
For starters, the bike now comes equipped with a tall front mudguard. This is in line with the dirt bikes which helps avoid the mud getting stuck between the wheel and the mudguard. The bike also gets a single piece seat along with an improved suspension.
Compared to the regular variants, the Rally model comes with a tall seat height of 910mm (standard 875mm). Owners can also configure their Rally variants with a low seat option that reduces the seat height to 885mm.
The bike also comes with a new bashplate that is made from forged carbon fibre. This seems to make the Ducati DesertX Rally one of the first production motorcycles to come equipped with this.
Hardware on the Ducati DesertX Rally
New hardware consists of Showa 48mm closed cartridge front forks and rear mono shock with 46mm piston. The front now gets a 250mm, while the rear gets a 240mm travel. Both of these are 20mm more than the standard. This has further resulted in an increased ground clearance to 280 mm, an increase of 30mm.
Users can adjust both the ends along with compression. Further, the rear monoshock comes with a high-speed and low-speed damping as well.
Powertrain of the Ducati DesertX Rally
DesertX gets a 937cc, L-Twin, liquid-cooled engine that it shares with the new Monster and Multistrada V2. Ducati is offering a six-speed gearbox with this motor. The performance figure of this motor reads as 110 BHP and 92 Nm.
In terms of safety features, the bike gets cornering ABS, traction control, ride modes, power modes, wheelie control, engine brake control, cruise control, amongst others.
Delivery dates for India
The DesertX deliveries started back in January. The price for the regular variants was set at INR 17.91 lakh. So, we expect Ducati to get the new bike to our shores for around INR 20.00 lakh price mark soon. The bike heads against the likes of Triumph Tiger 900, Honda Africa Twin and the BMW F850 GS in India.
