New spy images of the upcoming Royal Enfield Scram 650 have surfaced online. This time, we can see that the Scam 650 will share the speedometer with the new Himalayan.
What’s new in the RE Scram 650?
In terms of familiarity, the Scrambler 650 borrows few elements from the Super Meteor 650. Both bikes use the same Upside-down front fork and circular LED headlamp. The differences are visible in the wheels and tyre department. The Scrambler was fitted with wire-spoke rims with meaty rubber. The Scram 650 could possibly be the most lightweight 650cc bikes from the RE stable.
Toward the back, the Scrambler 650 gets a more open fender. That said, unlike the Super Meteor, it is not fully encased. The seats also look taller on the Scrambler.
The tail light on the Scramber gets a higher position on the fender. The circular tail light and circular indicators are mounted on a horizontal chrome strip. The indicators are placed in bullet shaped chrome housings.
Furthermore, the seating on the Scrambler is more upright. This particular test mule had a top box. It is unclear if this is an official accessory at this point of time.
Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler with revised rear sub-frame
Unlike other bikes, Royal Enfield has modified its rear subframe. This has ensured that the bike gets a typical scrambler look. The bike comes with a single-seat design and it has a ribbed seat cover.
The seating posture is upright and the riding posture can be described as neutral. Footpeg placement is rear-set which added sportiness to the posture of the rides. The handlebars’ position seems slightly elevated compared to the Hunter 350. Along with the handlebars, the instrument cluster too has moved upwards. A windscreen is missing from the bike, but the production version might be coming with a flyscreen.
Powertrain of the Royal Enfield Scrambler 650
The bike will get the same 648cc parallel-twin engine that develops 46 BHP and 52 Nm of peak torque. It is possible that Royal Enfield might re-tune the engine. This engine will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch.
