There has been talks about an upcoming Royal Enfield electric motorbike. Now, Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director & CEO of Eicher Motors has revealed that an electric bike from the house will debut sometime within the next two years.
Electric Royal Enfield under testing
It has further been revealed that the prototype of this electric bike is currently undergoing testing. Additionally, there is also a separate team to look into the commercial aspect of the EV side of the business.
A while back, Royal Enfield had hired around 100 people just for the EV division. This news was revealed by B Govindarajan, CEO at Royal Enfield. In terms of manufacturing, the company is looking at 1-1.5 lakh EV units at its existing manufacturing plant. To this end, a capacity augmentation exercise will be done in the near future.

While details are scant at this point, it is expected that the upcoming bike will be based on a new 96V electric architecture. Internally, this is known as the L-platform. The first electric vehicle will take inspiration from the Electrik01 concept.
That said, the first electric Royal Enfield will get its own DNA and will stand out from the crowd. The Electrik01 will come with its own Enfield character, thanks to the neo-retro looks.
Royal Enfield 650cc Royal Enfield Scrambler : More Details
The upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler has been spotted once again. However, this time around, the bike appears to be in a production-ready guise. In terms of familiarity, the Scrambler 650 borrows few elements from the Super Meteor 650. Both bikes use the same Upside-down front fork and circular LED headlamp. The differences are visible in the wheels and tyre department. The Scrambler was fitted with wire-spoke rims with meaty rubber.
The bike will get the same 648cc parallel-twin engine that develops 46 BHP and 52 Nm of peak torque. It is possible that Royal Enfield might re-tune the engine. This engine will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch.
