The very first Harley-Davidson motorcycle built by Hero MotoCorp in India has been revealed. This is the Harley-Davidson X440, and it will be launched in the Indian market very soon. Official launch date of this X440 motorcycle has been set as 4th of July 2023, and this bike will also be exported to other key markets. Previously, Harley-Davidson manufactured & sold the Street 750 here in India, but that is now discontinued. The design of the new X440 is similar to the old Harley-Davidson XR motorcycles.
Expect the new Harley-Davidson X440 motorcycle to be priced in the range of INR 2.5 – 3 lakh ex-showroom. The competitive price tag is thanks to local manufacturing by Hero MotoCorp.
Harley-Davidson X440 Engine
Powering the Harley-Davidson X440 will be a brand new, 440cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled motor matched to a 6-speed gearbox. Expect this engine to be tuned for optimum torque delivery, typical of the Harley-Davidson’s other range of cruisers. While there would be cross comparison between this and the Royal Enfield Classic 350 & Meteor 350, expect the Harley X440 to pump more power and torque thanks to the higher engine capacity, and also oil cooling. Hence, it should also do well on long distance touring without any drop in performance. This bike would also make use of a chain drive, unlike most other Harley-Davidson cruisers which use a belt drive.
Harley-Davidson X440 Features
This all-new Harley-Davidson X440 is built grounds up, and it will use a new tubular frame riding on USD front works and twin rear shock absorbers. The motorcycle will get a single disc brake at the front & at the back, with dual channel ABS for sure. The front wheel is an 18″ unit while at the back, you get a 17″ rim. Expect the riders triangle to be relaxed and this should appeal to a wider audience. The alloy wheels get machined dual tone finish, and the product overall has a dark theme to it, as seen in these images.
Features of the Harley-Davidson X440 include a full LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, LED turn indicators, dark coloured rear view mirrors, contoured seat, long black exhaust pipe, dark theme on the engine & mechanical parts, branding on the fuel tank, digital speedometer cluster, conventional crash guards, pillion grab rails, a centre stand, etc.
