We first saw the Maruti Suzuki Fronx coupe SUV at Auto Expo 2023 back in January this year. Now, Maruti Suzuki had revealed several details about the SUV minus the fuel efficiency figures. But now, at the recently held Fronx media drive, Maruti Suzuki shared the official fuel economy figures of the SUV.
Fronx 1.2 petrol MT comes with a certified mileage of 21.79 kmpl. Whereas the Fronx 1.0 turbo petrol MT does 21.5 kmpl. Meanwhile for the Fronx 1.0 turbo petrol AT we get a certified mileage of 20.01 kmpl.
Maruti Fronx Fuel Powertrain Options
As mentioned, Maruti will sell the Fronx with two engine options. The first is the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated DualJet petrol engine. This unit makes 90 HP and 113 Nm. Customers get two gearbox choices to choose from. These are, namely, a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT automatic. The 1.2 NA engine is available on the first three trims – Sigma, Delta and Delta S. The manual gearbox is a standard offering on all three trims. Meanwhile, the AMT gearbox is available on the Delta and Delta S trims.
The second engine option on the Fronx is the exciting 1.0-litre turbo-petrol Boosterjet unit. This motor makes 100 HP and 147.6Nm. This engine is available in Delta+, Zeta and Alpha trims. As is the same with the other engine, for this as well the manual gearbox is standard on all trims. Meanwhile, a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox is available on the top-spec Zeta and Alpha trims.
Maruti Fronx SUV Launch Timeline
We understand the Fronx will go on sale in the coming weeks. Maruti Suzuki will position the Fronx as a premium compact SUV. Like the Baleno, it will be sold via the Nexa outlets. After its launch, it will take on high-riding hatchbacks and compact SUVs in the market. This includes the likes of the Citroen C3, Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
