We first saw the Honda XL750 Transalp at EICMA 2022. This marks the return of the motorcycle to Honda’s line-up a full decade later. As per reports, Honda has now filed a design patent for the motorcycle for the Indian market.
But the interesting news is Honda has already patented many of its other international models but has not launched them in India. For the XL750 we assume there’s a good chance of this motorcycle making it to India. The bigger Africa Twin has received an overwhelming and loyal fan following in India. Thus, it makes sense for Honda 2Wheelers India to offer another more affordable ADV that will position itself beneath the African twins.
Also given, the increasing popularity of the middleweight adventure motorcycle segment. Bringing in the XL750 Transalp does make a lot of sense.
Honda XL750 Transalp What Do We Know?
The XL750 Transalp equips the same engine as the new CB750 Hornet. This is a liquid-cooled, 755cc, parallel-twin unit. The performance figure reads as 92 HP at 9,500rpm and 75 Nm at 7,250rpm mated to a 6-speed gearbox. As we have seen with most parallel-twin engines these days. This engine too has a 270-degree firing order. This gives it the ‘pulse’ that’s a hallmark of a V-Twin engine.
Suspension And Tyres
The motorcycle gets a new steel diamond frame supported by a 43mm Showa USD fork and monoshock. Both of these setups feature only preload adjustability. With 210mm of ground clearance, the motorcycle wears 21/18-inch tubed wire-spoke wheels and block-pattern tyres. Weighing 208 kg the weight is quite a bit less than its immediate rivals such as the Tiger 900 Rally (196 kg dry) and the BMW F 850 GS (233 kg kerb).
Key Features On Offer
As for the features, the motorcycle benefits from 5 riding modes, cornering ABS and traction control and a bidirectional quick-shifter.
