Honda’s new SUV for India has once again been spotted testing.
What’s new in the upcoming Honda SUV?
Despite the heavy camouflage, we can make out some details of the Honda SUV. Starting from the front we can see LED DRLs with a grill with mesh. The DRLs look similar to the ones on Nexa models – they come with a crystal effect. Overall, the front fascia is reminiscent of the 2022 Honda HR-V. In terms of windscreen it appears to get an upright position.
The SUV also sports a sunroof and roof rails. At the back, the LED tail lamps are similar to the new WR-V.
What do we know about this new Honda SUV so far?
It has been reported earlier that this car could measure between 4.2-4.3 meters in length. Honda is going to use new version of the platform that is currently being used in the Honda Amaze for this SUV. Honda has been very secretive about this car so far and not even a camouflaged test mule of the vehicle has yet been spotted.
Coming to the insides, we can expect this new SUV to come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. Other than this, we could also see Honda offering the Honda Sensing ADAS suite of technology on this vehicle to distinguish it from rivals.
Powertrain of the new Honda SUV
Since this car is based on the existing platform, it is likely that Honda could offer the existing range of engines. This could be the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine which is doing duty on the Honda City. Another option could also be the hybrid unit as well. One of the reasons for offering the hybrid is the lack of diesel option. The upcoming stricter BS6 phase 2 emission norms have all but ensured that Honda will no longer offer a diesel engine on its range of cars in India. The transmission options could be a 5-speed manual, a CVT and an e-drive transmission.
