Hyundai will be commencing the deliveries of the Ioniq 5 towards the end of March. Recently we had reported that Hyundai has already received a total of 650 bookings for the Ioniq 5. These bookings have been underway since December 2022 for a token amount of INR 1 lakh. The Ioniq 5 was launched in the Indian market in January at the Auto Expo 2023. The introductory price was set at INR 44.95 lakh. Hyundai had mentioned that the introductory price was applicable only for the first 500 bookings. But customer demand has already surpassed this. Now, let us take a look at this electric vehicle from the Korean carmaker.
Design of the Hyundai Ioniq 5
Coming to the design of the Ioniq 5, we can notice similarities with the 45 EV concept. The concept was displayed at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 boasts of a retro-futuristic design language. This will appeal to young dynamic customers. Some of the main highlights of this electric vehicle include sharp lines, flat surfaces and a raised stance with highly raked windscreens. In terms of dimensions, the car is wider and longer than the Tucson. However the Tucson is slightly taller. That said, it is the images make it appear smaller.
Hyundai has equipped unique pixelated look headlamps and tail lamps on the Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 5 come with large 20-inch wheels with a turbine-like design. Back in 2022, the Ioniq 5 was the won multiple accolades internationally. Some of these include the World Design of the Year, the World Electric Car and the World Car of the Year.
Coming to the insides, the EV features a minimalistic design. Hyundai has equipped the Ioniq 5 with a spacious multilayered dashboard and twin displays. The brand also reveals that the Ioniq 5 uses sustainable and eco-friendly materials on the interiors. One of these is the usage of flax seed oil that is used to dye the eco-processed leather seat upholstery. The Korean carmaker also gives Bio Paint for the steering wheel, switches, crash pads, and door panels of the Ioniq 5.
Powertrain of the Hyundai Ioniq 5
In terms of motor and battery, Hyundai offers a 217 HP single motor and a 72.6 kWh battery on the electric vehicle. The maximum toque of the motor is 350 Nm. These numbers ensure a brisk pace for the Ioniq 5. The car also comes with superfast 800V charging. Customers will be able to charge the battery from 10-80 per cent in just 18 minutes. The EV also gets an ARAI-claimed range of 631 km per charge. Further, the Ioniq 5 is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h in a fast 7.6 seconds.
