German sports car manufacturer Porsche has announced the launch of the 911 GT3 and the GT3 Touring in India. With both models priced at INR 2.5 crore (ex-showroom), the 911 GT3 is the hardcore track-focused version. Meanwhile, the 911 GT3 Touring is the subdued, everyday version of the standard GT3 whilst offering similar levels of performance. Both models utilise Porsche’s ‘Carpe Secundum’ philosophy which showcases how to utilise each and every second of time.
2022 Porsche 911 GT3 & GT3 Touring: Design Details
Based on the current 992 generation of the 911 series, the GT3 and GT3 Touring take inspiration from motorsport. Being the hardcore track version, the GT3 sports a carbon fibre bonnet with integrated air outlets for enhanced aerodynamics. Along with a front apron with extended openings for optimised brake cooling, the GT3 also sports large slats for downforce. Porsche has equipped the rear of the GT3 with a unique, swan-neck style fixed rear wing for added downforce.
Meanwhile, the GT3 Touring is a more accessible, everyday version of the standard GT3 meant for the open road. The GT3 Touring retains the carbon fibre bonnet with integrated air outlets but loses the fixed, swan-neck style rear wing. However, Porsche has instead equipped the GT3 Touring with an automatic extendable rear spoiler that offers similar levels of downforce. Additionally, the GT3 Touring also sports unique silver-coloured details on the side windows, tailpipes, and a “Porsche” logo at the back.
2022 Porsche 911 GT3 & GT3 Touring: Technical Specs
Both the 911 GT3 and the GT3 Touring utilise Porsche’s signature 4.0-litre, flat-six petrol engine with varying performance numbers. With the engine delivering 510 PS and 470 Nm, the GT3 can accelerate from 0-100 kph in 3.4 seconds. Customers can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed, PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters for the GT3. Therefore, the new 2022 GT3 can achieve a top speed figure of 320 km/h and features a double-wishbone suspension.
On the other hand, the GT3 Touring utilises the same powertrain as the standard GT3 with the same power figures. Porsche also offers the GT3 Touring with the same 6-speed manual or 7-speed, PDK, dual-clutch automatic transmissions as the GT3. Therefore, it can accelerate from 0-100 kph in 3.9 seconds with the manual and 3.4 seconds in the automatic. Meanwhile, the GT3’s optional Clubsport Package includes a roll cage, a 6-point racing harness, and a fire extinguisher for free.
