Hero MotoCorp LTD, the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world has partnered with Taiwan-based Industry-Leading Battery Swapping Network, Gogoro Inc. Under the strategic partnership, Hero MotoCorp will develop Gogoro-powered electric vehicles in India. The companies will also establish a battery swapping joint venture in the Indian market. Gogoro’s expertise in battery swapping platform will help accelerate the shift to sustainable electric mobility in India.
Gogoro Battery Swapping Station
Gogoro boasts to be a global leader in urban battery-swapping and smart mobility innovation. The brand has nearly 2,000 battery swapping stations in its Taiwan network. The network manages 265,000 daily battery swaps and a total of 174 million battery swaps have taken place to date. The company claims that more than 375,000 riders in Taiwan use Gogoro’s battery swapping stations. The hyper-efficient platform is also recognized by Frost & Sullivan. The brand also received the ‘2020 Company of the Year Award for the Global Swappable Battery Electric Scooter Market’.
Gogoro’s Battery Swapping Network
The battery swapping network is an open platform combined with connectivity, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The system also claims to be smart, scalable and continually optimizing. Gogoro also gives its vehicle partners access to its innovations and intellectual property such as intelligent drivetrains and controllers, components and smart systems. This enables Gogoro’s vehicle partners to integrate the swappable battery system into their vehicles. In Taiwan, Gogoro has collaborations with Yamaha, AeonMotor PGO and eReady which use the swappable battery system.
