Volkswagen T-Roc Popularity
When Volkswagen introduced the T-Roc SUV to India in March the country was hit with the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated lockdown. But despite the pandemic situation, all the 1000 units allocated for the Indian market were sold-out by September 2020. The Government of India permits foreign manufacturers to import and retail 2,500 units each year without the need for homologation in the country. Volkswagen brings the T-Roc to the Indian soil under the same 2,500 units homologation-free rule and this is the second round of the T-Roc in India.
Powertrain
Powering the Volkswagen T-Roc is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI EVO turbo-petrol engine that makes 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. The engine comes with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox and features Active Cylinder Technology that can activate or deactivate 2 out of the 4 engine cylinders depending on the driving pattern and load requirement. This technology drastically improves the overall fuel efficiency of the vehicle and also substantially reduces carbon emissions. The Active Cylinder Deactivation takes just 13 to 36 milliseconds and is so fast that the driver does not even feel any loss in power under the operation.
