Toyota Urban Cruiser

Toyota launched the Urban Cruiser compact SUV in the Indian market last year at the price starting INR 8.40 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. Since its launch, the base price of the car has increased by around INR 10,000 which is due to the increase in input costs. The Toyota Urban Cruiser is available in three trim options – Mid, High and Premium and the engine is offered in only the petrol option with both manual and automatic option.

Powertrain

Toyota’s strategic partner Maruti Suzuki builds the Urban Cruiser in India. The Urban Cruiser is essentially a badge-engineered Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Powering the Urban Cruiser is the same BS6 compliant K-Series 1.5 litre four-cylinder petrol motor with an ISG – Integrated Starter Generator motor that draws power from a separate Lithium-Ion battery and provides torque assist to the IC (internal combustion) engine, improving power as well as saving fuel by improving efficiency and saving carbon emissions by saving fuel. The powertrain produces 105 Hp of power and 138 Nm of torque. The engine comes with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic transmission and Toyota claims a fuel efficiency of 17.03 kmpl (Manual) and 18.76 kmpl (Automatic).
