Written by Rohit Tonapi

Land Rover will soon add a new body design to its Defender series. The new Defender 130 will make its global debut on 31st May 2022. And now, we have an official teaser image of the new 8-seat Defender. The new Defender 130 will join the other model in the Defender lineup – Defender 90 and Defender 110.

Land Rover says the new Defender 130 will be ready for any adventure. The Defender 130 will offer premium interior practicality for up to 8 occupants. The SUV will sport three rows of seating and a 2-3-3 seat configuration. Like the other Defender models, expect it to get all the digital technologies and advanced integrated chassis technologies. According to the company, the Defender is the toughest, most capable off-road expert.

New Land Rover Defender 130 – Teaser Image

The teaser image does not reveal much we don’t already know. The SUV is seen tackling sand dunes in the desert. The front of the vehicle looks largely the same as other Defender models. The rear is where all the changes will be. However, the teaser image does not reveal the rear.

Thanks to the design patent leaks, we got the first look at the 8-seater SUV at the end of last year. The patent leaks revealed that the Defender 130 will come with a larger rear overhang. There will also be a larger wheelbase to free up additional interior space. The patents and the teaser image also reveal it will keep the same design language as the existing Defender 90 and 110.

New Land Rover Defender 130 – Expected Powertrain

The new Defender 130 will likely come with the same engine options as the Defender 90 and 110. One of these engines is the 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine which is also a PHEV. Also, considering the increase in size and weight of the Defender 130, the brand will likely offer a V8 option. The current one in the lineup is a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 with 525 PS and 625 Nm of torque. Additionally, needless to say, all the engine options will come with four-wheel drive as standard.
