BMW has introduced the 7th generation BMW M5 performance sedan in the international market. The BMW M5 not only comes with a high-performance car design but also a high-performance engine justifying the “M” tag. This time around the BMW M5 also comes with an M Hybrid drive system and M-specific tuning for its chassis. In addition to this, the M5 also gets a number of new features on the inside as well as driver assistance features.
Exteriors And Interiors
The new BMW M5 comes with an athletic appearance differentiating itself from the 5-Series sedan. The C-pillar of the car also includes an embossed “M5” logo for the Hofmeister kink, a sculpted front and rear end as well as prominent wheel arches and side skirt extensions. On the inside, the M5 gets M-specific buttons which can be used to tailor the driving experience as per the individual. Two M Buttons on the steering wheel can also store overall vehicle setups for the driver to select. The car also comes with M Setup menu settings and Launch Control settings.
The M5 also gets a dedicated DSC button which activates M Dynamic Mode, raising the DSC intervention thresholds, when it comes to applying braking inputs and also reduces the engine output. The car also gets a specific M Hybrid button. The BMW M5 also comes with BMW Curved Display, BMW Head-Up Display with M-specific content, BMW Live Cockpit Professional with Maps and the Augmented View function on the control display. The new M5 also comes with BMW Interaction Bar, four-zone air conditioning, heated front seats and ambient lighting with M-specific interior lighting.
Technical Specifications
Powering the BMW M5 is a 4.4-litre BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine with M HYBRID drive system. The engine features a cross-bank exhaust manifold and optimised oil separation and the electric motor integrated into the 8-speed steptronic transmission. Together the motor produces 717 BHP of power and 1000 Nm of torque. This allows the car to achieve a top speed of 305 Kmph but the car comes limited to 250 Kmph from the factory. The BMW M5 is also capable of traversing to upto 69 km on electric only power thanks to the 18.6 kW battery pack that can be charged using a 7.4 kW charger.
