In just 11 months since its January launch, the Kia Sonet facelift has surpassed the one million sales milestone and 79 per cent of this milestone is comprised of sunroof-equipped variants. With the exception of the base HTE and HTK trims, all 18 Sonet models; petrol and diesel combined; have a single-pane sunroof.
Kia Sonet sales performance:
Kia stated that petrol-powered models with 1.0-litre turbo and 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engines accounted for 76% of Sonet sales. The Sonet’s 1.2-litre petrol engine is its top seller. The 1.5-litre diesel engine, which also powers the larger Kia Seltos and, most recently, the Syros, provided the remaining power. Around 34% of sales are automatic gearbox variants; including iMT models, with manual versions accounting for the remaining demand.
The Sonet accounted for 37% of Kia’s total sales between March 2021 and August 2025, which was second only to the Seltos 48% share. Within a year of its launch, the pre-facelift Sonet also surpassed the one million sales mark. In 2022, the sales target of 1,50,000 units was met. And in 2023, 2,50,000 units were sold. It took roughly 15 months to go from 2,50,000 to 3,50,000 units. The Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Tata Nexon are competitors of the Sonet.
From its plant in Anantapur, Kia India has dispatched about 1.6 million vehicles, including more than 1.2 million domestic sales and more than 3.67 lakh exports.
