7-seater Citroen C3 based crossover spotted road testing in India

Citroen is currently working on an all-new three-row model based on the recently launched C3. We say this because a few spy shots of the same are now floating across social media channels. The C3 is the French carmaker’s first India-focused product. With heavy localisation, the brand now seems to expand its presence in other high-demand segments like three-row models. C3 is more of a jacked-up hatchback aimed primarily at the entry-level compact SUV as well as hatchback buyers. With this new three-row vehicle, Citroen is targeting to add MPV and SUV customers as well.

7-Seater Citroen C3 Based Crossover Spotted – What Do We See?

As apparent in the spy photos, the test mule is wearing a larger set of wheels. We assume they are 16-inch or more. The standard tyre fitment with the C3 is 15-inch wheels. Also evident from the photos is the higher ground clearance of the three-row C3. We also expect Citroen to give this a more rugged look. Thus an all-around body cladding could feature in this SUV.

The overall silhouette looks pretty much identical to the standard C3 till the B-pillar. Then with the addition of the third row, the rear quarter panel and the glass area are new. The rear overhang is also much longer than the C3, thus making us believe that this vehicle could very well measure beyond 4 metres.

On the inside, we expect a lot of shared parts with the C3 hatchback. In fact, as we see in the photos, the dashboard layout, steering wheel and instrument cluster are identical to that of the C3. However, given its higher positioning with more premium pricing Citroen could add more features. The biggest addition, of course, is the third row of seats.

7-Seater Citroen C3 Based Crossover – Expected Powertrain

The three-row Citroen will most likely use the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. Hence the gearbox option too will include the 5-speed manual or, at a later stage, an automatic gearbox. Moreover, Citroen could also choose to use the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine on the model, thus more aggressive pricing.
