6 Tata Nexon variants discontinued

Tata has rejigged some variants of the Nexon. The carmaker has discontinued 6 variants, mostly the higher-end ones from the Nexon line-up.

Ever since SUVs have become popular in the market, Tata Nexon has been one of the top selling cars. Sales volume of the car is continuously on the rise thanks to popularity with customers. Features like modern exterior outlook, feature packed interiors and a 5-star GNCAP rating ensure a successful formula. Tata Motors has also kept offering new variants, limited editions and new features on the Nexon to keep up with the competition.

Which all variants have been discontinued?

Variants which have got the axe include XZ, XZA, XZ+ (O), XZA+ (O), XZ+ (O) Dark and XZA+ (O) Dark variants. Customers will instead have to choose amongst XZ+ (HS), XZ+ (L) and XZ+ (P). Meanwhile, the Dark, Kaziranga and Jet editions continue to be offered.

This is not the first time Tata has discontinued variants of the Nexon. Earlier this year, the XZ and XZA trims were discontinued.

Despite the discontinuation of these 6 variants, Tata Motors still offers 19 variants of the Nexon petrol manual, 18 variants of the diesel manual and a whopping 30 variants of automatics (both petrol and diesel included).

Powertrain of the Nexon

In terms of engine and transmission options, there have been no changes to the car. The Nexon is offered with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine which puts out 118 BHP and 170 Nm torque and a 1.5-litre diesel engine rated at 108 BHP and 260 Nm of peak torque. Both engines are offered with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automated manual transmission.

Tata Motors also offers the Nexon in two electric variants – the Nexon EV  and the Nexon EV Max. The Nexon EV has the distinction of being the country’s highest-selling electric four-wheeler, with a market share of more than 50 per cent. All these factors make the Nexon SUV even more desirable for customers.
