Maruti Suzuki has commenced road testing of their electric vehicle prototypes. The brand wants to introduce an EV in the Indian market by 2020, and keeping this in mind, 50 units of such cars have begun nationwide road testing. These cars were flagged off from the maruti Suzuki Gurugram facility.
While this road testing exercise will surely give the brand a better understanding of how their EVs perform in the real world on Indian soil, this will also become a brand building exercise when these cars are spotted on the streets and people start making note that Maruti Suzuki EVs are coming soon.
These EVs have been developed exclusively by Suzuki Motor Corporation in Japan and built by Maruti Suzuki at their Gurugram facility.
This road testing across the vast Indian terrain will let Maruti Suzuki understand better what might be needed to succeed.
One can note that these EVs are based on the Japanese-spec WagonR hatchback.
