5 Steps to Clean Windshield effectively

Written by Tejen Dhankhar

While driving down daily, one thing that we probably come across is dirt and dust. Traveling in a car may prevent us from that but it’s the car which bears all of it. So getting your windshield dirty is an everyday problem and along with reducing visibility in daytime, it also causes visibility issues during dark hours.

So here are 5 effective steps to clean your windshield quickly.

USE THE RIGHT LIQUID

Spray bottle glass cleaners are the most effective and VFM products. Available in market, a variety of them can easily clean dark spots and dirt particles on glass area. Applying simple soap & water also works but not as as effective as a cleaning liquid. Please refrain from buying ammonia containing products as they might hurt the windshield leaving scratches.

WASH WINDSHIELD

Before starting the process, wash your windshield area. This would help getting hard dirt particles to soften and making you work less. Use a soft micro fiber cloth and scrub the windshield to clean most of it.

USE OF THE LIQUID

The product you own for cleaning, spray it or apply it down to a clean towel cloth and rub it on the windshield area to create good foams. Try to do long board strokes from one end to another to cover almost every area. The more you clean, the more you see through it.

ALLOW TO DRY

Nothing to do here, just leave the windshield and nature do it’s work.

PREVENT DIRTY WINDSHIELD

Make sure your wiper fluid is full and that your blades are in working order. Blades need to be replaced once every 2 to 3 years. If there is some buildup on the wiper blade itself, try wiping the blade down with rubbing alcohol or mineral spirits. The angle of the blade is also important. Adjust the arm of your windshield wiper to about 70 degrees (versus a straight vertical 90 degree arm). If your wipers are really dirty, scrub them down with baking soda and water.
