Tata Motors has rolled out the 4,00,000th Tiago hatchback from its Sanand manufacturing facility in Gujarat. Launched back in 2016, Tiago has been the herald for the resurgence of Tata Motor’s new identity. Tiago has made an immediate impact in the market ever since it was launched. Furthermore, Tata Motors has given regular updates to the hatchback, thus making it relevant in 2022 as well. As of today, the hatchback commands a market share of 19 per cent in its segment, which is an appreciable figure. Tiago being the first car to breach this sale figure goes on to prove Tiago’s immense popularity in the market.
Tata Tiago – The Journey
In the current iteration, Tiago is available in two avatars, namely, Tiago and Tiago NRG. All in all, customers have 14 different variants to choose from. Tata Motors mentioned that Tiago has become the preferred choice for youngsters who are looking for a stylish, feature-loaded, and safe car. More than 60 per cent of sales are generated from first-time buyers.
In the Turnaround 2.0 strategy, Tiago played a pretty crucial role in reigniting the Tata Motors brand name in the country. The 4,00,000 sales figure is also a testimony of the customers’ love and support for the nameplate. Furthermore, Tata recently launched the CNG version of the Tiago. This will attract more customers to join the brand, thus boosting sales. The NRG trim strikes perfectly with the customers looking for a car with sturdy and SUV looks.
Safety At Its Core
One key area where Tata Motors completely outshines every other manufacturer is the safety aspect. Tiago, which comes with a 4 Global NCAP Safety Rating, also gets an array of safety features. This includes dual airbags, electronic brakeforce distribution, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with corner stability control (CSC), rear parking assist and more. For the CNG trim, Tata Motors has added innovative key segment-first features like Direct CNG Start and Single ECU.
