4 new Volkswagen SUVs coming to India by 2021

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Starting from mid-2020, Volkswagen is all set to introduce 4 new SUVs in the Indian market. The German car manufacturer has been rather slow in introducing new products to India, but seems like the future is bright. The first new SUV is expected to be rolled out of their production plant by Q2 of 2020 and Volkswagen wants to get a piece of the pie in our market which loves SUVs.

Under the India 2.0 strategy, working jointly with Skoda, Volkswagen is confident that their new range of cars will meet the customer requirements. The brand is all set to showcase 3 new SUVs at the Auto Expo 2020. The compact-SUV codenamed currently as the A0 will be launched in 2021, this would be the smallest of this 4 SUV plan. Volkswagen claims that there would be nearly 30% savings in cost of ownership as well in their future cars.

However, it seems like going against the market dynamics, Volkswagen could consider only petrol powered SUVs after the BSVI implementation.

Volkswagen would enter the sub-4 metre segment to rival the likes of Hyundai Venue, mid-size segment to rival the Hyundai Creta, a rival for the Hyundai Tucson and a 7-seater model could also be in the pipeline. However, no specific details have been shared till now but we expect things to leak online closer to the Indian Auto Expo 2020.
