Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. have grown huge in the past few years. The brand is currently the #2 two-wheeler manufacturer behind their previous alliance partner, Hero MotoCorp. Honda has now achieved a major milestone of having produced over 35 million two-wheelers in total, here in India.
It has taken Honda 17 years to achieve this milestone.
Honda started operations in India since 2001. From then, it took the brand 11 years to achieve the initial 10 million production (which happened in 2012) and post that Honda added another 25 million units to the figure in just five & a half years. Statistics thus suggest that there is a new Honda buyer every 5 seconds.
The milestone vehicle which rolled out from Honda’s second plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan was the Activa 4G. It has always been the Activa which has been generating huge numbers for Honda here in India. Honda has achieved this major milestone number backed by 24 products on sale. Honda has a established 5,700 sales & service touchpoints combined.
India is also the largest production hub for the brand in the world. From a total of 14.8 million units produced by Honda worldwide, India alone accounted for almost 31% of this number. However, Honda is committed to the Indian market and retails 95% of the product for our domestic market. Honda currently exports products to over 68 countries.
