Tata Motors has announced that the company has rolled-out the 300,000th Tata Tiago hatchback from the brand’s Sanand manufacturing facility in Gujarat. The Tata Tiago was the first Tata product under the IMPACT design philosophy and brought a host of segment-first features to the Indian market when it was launched back in 2016. In August 2018, the Tata Tiago became the highest selling hatchback in the country adding to its accolade of achievements.
Tata Motors upgraded the Tata Tiago and launched the BS6 compliant version of the car as part of Tata Motors’ New Forever range. The new Tata Tiago comes with a BS6 compliant 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine producing 86 PS of power at 6000 RPM and 113 Nm of torque at 3300 RPM matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). In terms of dimensions, the Tata Tiago measures 3765mm long, 1677mm in width and 1535mm in height with a wheelbase of 2400mm.
In terms of design, the 2020 facelift Tata Tiago features a new radiator grille with chrome accents, new sweptback headlamp units that flank the grille and neatly integrate with the design, new fog lamp, new sporty bumpers, black-finished ORVMs and mild updates to the tail lamps. The 300,000th unit that rolled out of the Sanand plant was in the shade of Blue with a gloss black roof.
On the inside, the 2020 Tata Tiago features a dual-tone dashboard, sporty flatbottomed steering wheel with controls, a fully digital instruments cluster, automatic climate control, a centrally placed 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system from Harman, 8-speaker surround sound system, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, reverse camera etc.
In terms of safety, the Tata Tiago was awarded 4-star adult safety rating by the Global NCAP and comes equipped with dual Air Bags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Corner Stability Control (CSC) & Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Rear Parking Assist and other safety features as standard making it the safest car in the segment.
