Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the 2026 CLA, marking a significant step forward in its electrification journey. Built on the Modular Mercedes Architecture (MMA) platform, the new CLA combines cutting-edge technology with a sleek design.

The EV lineup includes two variants: the CLA250+ and the CLA350 4MATIC. The CLA250+ features a rear-mounted motor producing 268 horsepower, while the CLA350 4MATIC adds an additional motor on the front axle, delivering a combined output of 349 horsepower. Both models are equipped with an 85 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery pack, offering a range of up to 418 miles (672 km) for the CLA250+ and slightly less for the CLA350 4MATIC. The 800-volt architecture enables ultra-fast DC charging at speeds of up to 320 kW, allowing the battery to gain 202 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

The hybrid variant, set to launch in 2026, features a 1.5-liter turbocharged Miller-cycle four-cylinder engine paired with a 27-horsepower electric motor. This setup is integrated into an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, providing improved efficiency and the ability to drive on electric power in city traffic.

All-new design

Design-wise, the 2026 CLA stays true to its coupe-like silhouette while incorporating modern elements. The front fascia features a full-width LED light bar and a star-studded grille, while the rear showcases taillights connected by illuminated louvers. The interior is equally impressive, with a “Superscreen” dashboard that integrates three displays under a single glass panel. The cabin also includes sustainable materials like recycled textiles and birch wood trims.

Advanced technology is a highlight of the new CLA. The MBUX infotainment system now supports Google Maps and AI-driven personalization, while the regenerative braking system offers adjustable levels for one-pedal driving. The EV models also include a functional front trunk (frunk) and an air-to-air heat pump for improved efficiency in colder climates.

The 2026 CLA is expected to hit showrooms in late 2025, with pricing likely to start under $60,000. It will compete with models like the Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4 in the premium electric sedan segment. It is likely to come to India a few months later.
