The upcoming Seltos new-generation model will feature substantial changes to its design and the cabin. However, the recent spy shots indicate that it will feature an independent rear suspension as well.

But there is a catch in the story here. The Seltos AWD has been offered previously as well, but only in the US market. The old-gen Seltos AWD also features an independent rear suspension, which means that the new-gen does not have a specifically developed suspension.

Simplifying this, the new-gen Seltos is most likely to remain unchanged in terms of suspension. Meanwhile, the Kia model lineup continues to be offered without independent suspensions, which is quite awkward as it has become the norm in mid-segment cars.

Speaking of the new-gen Seltos, it is expected to debut early next year, while featuring a complete cosmetic and interior overhaul. Additionally, there are online reports suggesting that it will be offered with a new strong-hybrid petrol engine as well.

Meanwhile, the current engine options, which include the 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and the 1.5-litre diesel, will be offered without any changes.

The expected launch timeline for the Indian market is around mid-2026 for the new Seltos.

Our verdict

Kia debuted in India with the Seltos, which helped in cementing a strong image of the Korean carmaker among Indian customers. However, the current Seltos is due for a thorough update, which its sibling car, the Hyundai Creta, has already done an year ago.
