2025 Triumph Thruxton 400 – what do we know so far?

Triumph Thruxton 400

Spotted on an evening test run, the Thruxton 400 test bike looks nearly production-ready in the latest spy shots. It is likely based on the Speed 400s platform and Triumph will position it between the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X.

As visible in the photos, the test bike has a design identical to that of the bigger Thruxton models. It beholds its cafe racer cowl with a round headlight and a slightly sporty riding position. The retro-inspired Dolphin-fairing is an iconic design that enthusiasts love all over the world, and the Thruxton 400 will also bear it.

Other notable highlights on the test bike include a split seat with a brushed aluminium flat pillion grab handle. Even the LED taillight looks changed as it appears to be smaller in size. The engine casing and the other mechanical components are blacked out similar to the other 400cc sibling bikes.

Powering the Thruxton 400 will be the new 399cc LC4 liquid-cooled engine that is also featured on the Speed 400. It makes 39.5bhp of peak power and 37.5Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. It is unlikely that Triumph will change the tuning of this tried and tested unit on the Thruxton 400.

Hardware, as visible in the photos, is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, USD front forks, monoshock rear suspension, and disc brakes with dual-channel ABS. Feature-wise, we are expecting that it will be equipped with the same semi-digital console as the Scrambler 400X featuring smartphone connectivity.

Our verdict

The latest spy shot indicates that the Thruxton 400 is nearly production-ready and the company might roll-out it in the coming weeks. When launched, it will be the only 400cc cafe racer in India. The nearest competition it will have is the Royal Enfield Continental GT650. Additionally, the pricing of it is expected to be in the range of Rs 2.5-2.7 lakh.
