2025 Kia Carens EV – What to expect?

2025 Kia Carens EV

Not long ago, we learnt that Kia is developing a new MPV that is based on the Carens, but it will be bigger than it. This new MPV will use a different suffix, and it will also be offered with an EV powertrain.

Now, ahead of the global unveil of this new MPV, what looks like the Carens EV test car, has been spotted at a charging station in India. While the test mule is completely covered with camouflage and a body cover, its dual-tone alloy wheels give it away that it is a Carens test car.

Moreover, the charging port on it is present on the nose, the same position that is also seen on the Creta Electric. It is because the Carens EV will be using Creta Electric’s EV powertrain. Hence, it will deliver more than 450 km range.

With the new-gen model, Carens is likely to grow in size as well. It will not only get a completely overhauled design that will mimic the Syros, but it will also get a more upmarket cabin with advanced features for the utmost passenger comfort.

Kia has been completely quiet about the Carens EV and the upcoming MPV that is likely to be the Maruti Suzuki XL6 rival. But we can safely assume that the ICE model will debut in the second half of this year, while the EV is likely to enter by late 2025 or early 2026.

Our verdict

The Carens MPV has proven to be a successful model for Kia in India. It offers the practicality of the diesel powertrain along with a more spacious and upmarket cabin as compared to its direct rival, the Maruti Ertiga. Meanwhile, the 2025 new-gen model will uplift the Carens brand value further with its new features, new cabin, and new design.
