2025 Benelli Leoncino 250 – What has changed?

Benelli discontinued the Leoncino 250 back in 2020, before the BS6 emission norms hit. Its sales were already not enough and Benelli did not find it feasible to invest into updating its engine.

However, this is soon going to change as the latest test mule of the Leoncino 250 has been spied in Pune with numerous changes. The design, which is not visible clearly in the spy shots, has been revamped.

It gets new body panels, a new front fascia, and a sculpted fuel tank while retaining its neo-retro appeal with a new LED headlight. The rear looks funkier now, as it gets a small LED light and a wide rear tyre with a tyre hugger. The test bike also has a redesigned seat for better comfort and convenience.

Moving on to the features, the spy shots did not capture the new TFT console clearly but we assume that it will get advanced features like Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, SMS/call alert, and more.

Powering the Leoncino 250 is going to be the same 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as before. However, it will now be OBD-2B-compliant and more efficient than the previous iteration.

This engine generates 25.4 bhp and 21 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox along with a slipper-clutch for seamless power delivery.

The Leoncino 250 was a premium bike that was earlier positioned at Rs 2.84 lakh before it was discontinued. We assume that the new model will be positioned higher than that, as the bike is expected to launch around the festive season this year.

Our verdict

Benelli has been selling its products in India via Adishwar Auto Ride for a long time now. However, despite the Italian brand’s global heritage, it has found fewer buyers in India due to tough competition and quality-related issues. The new Leoncino 250 might change the brand image with its improved packaging.
