As per the details, the new Shiver 900 naked sports bike has been revealed for the Chinese market only. It features an evolved design that is based on the old model. The new updated model has revised panels, new LED lights, and revised colour schemes.

The Shiver 900 used to be on sale globally, including in India. However, it did not receive a proper response and the sales figures were really poor. Hence, it was discontinued globally. Now, the new model has been introduced especially in the Chinese market.

Speaking of further improvements, it gets a new keyless ignition. Apart from it, the rest of the features are unchanged. However, it does get a digital console that supports Bluetooth connectivity and offers features like dual-channel ABS.

Powering the new model is the same old 896.1 cc, liquid-cooled, V-twin engine. This powertrain generates a peak power output of 94 bhp and 90 Nm of peak torque. Moreover, it is mated to a 6-speed gearbox that gets a slipper-assist clutch as well.

The launch price of the new model in China is equivalent to Rs 8.1 lakh approximately (in INR). For now, Aprilia has no plans to launch it in other international markets including India.

Our verdict

The main reason behind the Chinese launch of the new Shiver is the partnership between Aprilia and Zongshen. Zongshen is a Chinese company that has collaborated with Aprilia to create new products for the Chinese market. We do not anticipate the launch of Shiver 900 in India soon.
