This an interesting piece of news for the ones looking to get the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. Recently, spy shots have surfaced on the internet of the next-gen Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 undergoing testing on Indian roads. From these images, we can dig into some key information about the motorcycle.
Next-gen Husqvarna Svartpilen 401: What Do We Know?
We have already spotted the next-gen KTM 390 Duke testing on multiple occasions now. Hence it is no surprise that we are also seeing the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 being tested as well. This is because both motorcycles share the same underpinnings. This test mule spotted is most likely a Svartpilen 401. We say this because it gets wire-spoke wheels wearing knobby tyres and a luggage rack on the tank.
Like the new KTM, the next-gen Husqvarna too is seen with an offset monoshock and an underbelly exhaust. The outgoing model benefits from a side-mounted exhaust end with a more traditional, central-mounted monoshock. Overall, this test mule has a much larger footprint than the outgoing motorcycle, thanks to the wider split-seat arrangement. Other key changes include a regular tail section extending from under the tail lamp of the motorcycle. This is as opposed to the tyre hugger we saw on the earlier model.
Engine And Mechanicals
In terms of the engine options, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 401 will get the same engine. This is the single-cylinder, liquid-cooled unit from the new KTM 390 Duke. There were some rumours suggesting that the displacement might get a bump and reach the 399cc mark from the current 373cc. But for this, we do not have any official confirmation.
India Launch Timeline
Although the Svartpilen 401 has been spotted testing in India. But we are not very sure if it’ll be launched in the country. We say this because the outgoing Svartpilen/Vitpilen 401s were not sold here. If at all it comes to India, we expect the Husqvarna 401 to carry a heftier price tag than the current-gen KTM 390 Duke which gets a price tag of INR 2.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
