Citroen has revealed the new Basalt SUV in the Indian market. The Basalt has become the country’s first Coupe SUV and carry forwards the coupe heritage of the French brand since the 1970. In addition to revealing the creative process of the Basalt Coupe SUV, the brand also revealed the specifications of the car.
Engine Specifications
Powering the Citroen Basalt are two engine options. You can either choose the Puretech 82 – a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 82 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine also does duty on the Citroen C3 which is also sold in the Indian market. The Basalt also comes with the option of the Puretech 110 – a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 110 PS of power and 190 Nm of torque. The engine comes with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter type automatic gearbox.
App, Dep Angles & and Ground Clearance
The Citroen Basalt coupe SUV is also capable on rough patches of roads. The Basalt comes with a 19.2-degree approach angle and 21.2 degree departure angle. The Basalt also gets a healthy 180mm ground clearance allowing the car to traverse over bad road surfaces and large speed breakers with ease. The suspension of the Citroen Basalt is also tuned to take on the broken roads with ease. In addition to this, the Coupe SUV also claims to be the best in class in terms of the aerodynamics with optimised front grille geometry and air curtains as well as an aerodynamically optimised underbody. However, the coefficient of drag number has not been shared.
Cabin & Boot Space
The brand also revealed that the Basalt will come with a class-leading 2651mm wheelbase. Which means the coupe SUV will have 980mm of legroom in the second row. In addition to this, the knee room and the headroom is also claimed to be generous. The Citroen Basalt also features a large 470-litre boot space. Thanks to the large dimensions and smart interior packaging the brand also offers lounge-like seats for the rear passengers which includes features such as a Smart Tilt Cushion that enhances the thigh support and winged headrests that offer advanced comfort to the rear occupants.
The Citroen Basalt also comes with features such as a “Tropicalised AC” which comes with a 480 M3/hour flow, claiming best in class cooling. The Basalt also comes with rear AC vents to keep rear passengers cool. The car also comes with features such as a full-digital instruments cluster with multiple themes, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, control mounted steering wheel and more.
